1. Section 8(3) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011 provides that: every dual citizen shall disclose his/her other citizenship in the prescribed manner within three months of becoming a dual citizen.
  2. Section 8(4) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011 provides that: a dual citizen who fails to disclose the dual citizenship in the prescribed manner commits an offence and shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding five million shillings or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or both.
The requirements of Dual Declaration of Citizenship:-
  1. Submit the duly filled application form 3.
  2. The duly filled  application Form 3 should be attested to by a Commissioner of Oaths or Notarized with official stamps and two processing fee payment receipts.
  3. Three (3) current, clear and un-mounted passport size photographs not less than 6 months Click for specifications;
    Note: 
    • No earing or headgear(no hats).
    •Hair should be away from the face
    •No eyeglasses
  4. Copy of Kenyan passport/ or National Identity Card.
  5. Copy of Proof of applicant’s Kenyan citizenship (For individuals who have regained Kenya Citizenship, to include a copy of the regaining citizenship letter with your application);
  6. Copy of the other country’s National Passport.
  7. Copy of certificate of Naturalization/Citizenship. (If not in English, it must be translated into English and certified by the Issuing Authority or Notarized with official stamps).
  8. For those whose names have changed, application must be accompanied by supporting documents e.g. copy of marriage certificate if through marriage, and Deed Poll & a Gazette Notice for others.
  9. Copy of birth certificate.
  10. Verify that you have the required document/pre-requisites, and you meet the relevant criteria before you apply.
  11. Complete application documents to be sent to the Embassy for processing via post or dropped at the Embassy reception during working hours
  12. The applicant must present receipts after payment
  13. Processing and Issuance fee of 213 Euros Payable to:

      • Account holder:  Embajada de la República de Kenia
      • Account nº:  ES53 2100 9055 1807 0000 5786
  • The duration for issuance of Declaration of dual citizenship letter is one  year or more on a case by case basis
