History of the Embassy
The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Madrid was established in 2007 and Amb. Mwakai Sio was appointed the first Ambassador to Spain in the same year.
The Mission was initially accredited to the Kingdom of Spain and the UN Tourism, but later expanded its accreditation to include the Principality of Andorra.
Prior to the opening of this Embassy, the Kenya Embassy in Paris was accredited to the Kingdom of Spain. The Embassy articulates Kenya’s foreign policy and
pursues Kenya’s interests in the countries of accreditation and the UN Tourism. The functions of the Embassy include Political, Economic and Trade, Tourism,
Multilateral and Consular Affairs.
