Note: Before booking an appointment for the Biometrics Capture at the Embassy, please forward the e-citizen customer generated Invoice to consular@kenyaembassyspain.es

(a) Passport Application guidelines

The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Madrid is currently receiving e-passport
applications from Kenyans in Spain for processing. The approved applications will be
forwarded electronically to Nairobi for printing.
Applicants are required to apply online on the e citizen platform and thereafter
present themselves at the Kenya Embassy Madrid for submissions of documents
and biometric capture. Appointments for biometric capture can be done via email or
telephone.

Application guidelines
  • Register on www.ecitizen.go.ke
  • Go to the department of immigration services and click on the passport application form.
  • Read the instructions carefully then fill the application form and upload all the required documents.
  • Select the mode of payment and pay for the passport fees.
  • Download and print the application form and two application receipts.
  • Book your appointment, with the Kenya Embassy, Madrid by calling or emailing us at consular@kenyaembassyspain.se  Please include your preferred time. We are available for appointments from 9.30AM to 2.00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday.
  • Submit the application form in person to the Kenya Embassy in Madrid and have your biometrics captured.
Points to note
  1. Kindly ensure that you have read and understood the guidelines and requirements both on www.ecitizen.go.ke and those listed below before submitting your application.
  2. Applicants must apply for the e-passport on the e-citizen platform before booking an appointment for submission at the Kenya Embassy, Madrid.
  3. Incomplete passport applications will not be processed.
  4. For the submission at the Kenya Embassy Madrid, applicants must provide copies and original Kenyan Birth Certificate, parent’s Identity Card (in the case of minor’s) and the Passport that is being replaced.
  5. The waiting period is approximately 4 weeks.
  6. Dual Citizens are required to declare their other nationality prior to applying for an e-passport.
  7. Those required to apply to regain Kenya citizenship are expected to do so using the form and requirements provided and submit hard copies to the Kenya Embassy, before applying for an e-passport.
  8. Photographs should be 2 inches by 2 1/2 inches, clear, and with all facial features clearly outlined against a white background. Spectacles should not be worn.
  9. Collection of passport can be done in person or delivered via courier service. At the time of application applicants are required to provide their residential address, postal code as well as their telephone number.

(b) New Passport Application for minors (Below 18 years)

A child born outside of Kenya to a Kenyan citizen parent (s) is eligible for Kenyan citizenship.

Passport Requirements for a minor (Below 18 years):
  1. Register on  www.ecitizen.go.ke;
  2. E-citizen pre-filled passport application Form and two payment receipts.
  3. Original and a copy of Kenyan birth certificate.
  4. Original Kenya National ID card of the parent presenting the child and copies of Kenyan IDs from both parents.
  5. Copies of Parents’ passports (both parents).
  6. Copies of the Father’s / Mother’s Kenyan Birth certificate.
  7. Signed parental consent Form.
  8. Additional documentary proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
  9. Two recent passport size photographs on a white background (2 by 2 1/2 inches). The photo should be taken without spectacles, earrings, necklace and both ears should be visible hence no hair on the forehead.
(c) Application for Replacement of Passport (Expired / Filled Up)
Requirements/ Checklist for Replacement of an Existing Passport
  1. Submit online application on www.ecitizen.go.ke;
  2. E citizen pre-filled passport application Form and two payment receipts.
  3. Original and a copy of Kenyan birth certificate.
  4. Original Kenya National ID card and a copy of Kenyan ID.
  5. Original passport and a copy (Bio Data Page) of passport being renewed/replaced
  6. A copy of Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by registration
  7. Additional documentary proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
  8. For those requesting change of name, attach copy of marriage certificate for married women or Deed Poll and a Kenya Gazette Notice.
  9. For Dual Citizens, Proof of having either regained Kenya Citizenship and or Declared Dual Citizenship.
  10. Two recent passport size photographs on a white background (2 by 1/2 inches). The photo should be taken without spectacles, earrings and both ears should be visible hence no hair on the forehead.
(d) Change of Name/Addition of Name on Passport
Application for Change/ Addition of Name on Passport
  • Submit online application on www.ecitizen.go.ke;
  • Citizen pre-filled passport application Form and two payment receipts.
  • Original and a copy of Kenyan birth certificate.
  • Original Kenya National ID card and a copy of Kenyan ID.
  • Original passport and a copy (Bio Data Page) of passport.
  • In the case of marriage, original and copy of the marriage certificate (Must be translated into English and certified).
  • In the case of an applicant who is adopted, the original adoption certificate issued by the Government of Kenya, clearance letter from the Children’s Department and Court ruling or Award is required.
  • Change of Name through Deed Poll, one must have a copy of the deed poll and the Kenya Gazette Notice.
  • Original Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by Registration and a copy of the front and back page.
  • Two recent passport size photographs on a white background (2 by 2 1/2 inches). The photo should be taken without spectacles, earrings and both ears should be visible hence no hair on the forehead.
(e) Lost Passport
Requirements for Lost Passport: –
  1. Submit online application on www.ecitizen.go.ke;
  2. E citizen pre-filled passport application Form and two payment receipts.
  3. A police abstract report explaining loss of passport.
  4. Own application letter explaining circumstances under which the lost passport occurred.
  5. A Sworn Affidavit to support circumstances under which the passport got lost.
  6. Copies of lost passport or original of any previously held.
  7. The applicants ID.
  8. Original Kenya National ID card and a copy.
  9. A copy of birth certificate.
  10. Additional documentary for proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
  11. Two recent passport size photographs on a white background (2 by 2 1/2 inches). The photo should be taken without spectacles, earrings and both ears should be visible hence no hair on the forehead.
(f) Damaged Passport
Requirements for damaged Passports: –
  1. Submit online application on www.ecitizen.go.ke;
  2. E citizen pre-filled passport application Form and two payment receipts.
  3. Own application letter explaining circumstances under which the  passport was mutilated..
  4. A Sworn  Affidavit to support circumstances under which the passport was mutilated.
  5. Copies of lost passport or original of any previously held.
  6. Original Kenya National ID card and a copy.
  7. A copy of birth certificate.
  8. Additional documentary for proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
  9. Two recent passport size photographs on a white background (2 by 21/ 2 inches). The photo should be taken without spectacles, earrings and both ears should be visible hence no hair on the forehead.
