People and Culture
Kenya’s cultural diversity is one of its most distinguishing features. The country is home to more than 40 different ethnic groups, the largest of which are the Kikuyu, Luhya, Luo, and Kalenjin. Each group contributes its own unique customs, traditions, and languages to Kenya’s national identity. English and Kiswahili serve as the official languages, while traditional practices, art, and music are central to everyday life. Kenya also has a rich oral history, passed down through generations by storytelling.
